Meme coins were the highlight of the year. Dogecoin (DOGE), the OG meme cryptocurrency, and Shiba Inu (SHIB) reignited in the market. While DOGE recorded a 289% increase over the past year, SHIB followed suit with a 130% uptick. With both networks delivering promising performance during this period, the community is curious to see if SHIB has the potential to take over Dogecoin in the coming year.

Both these assets stand out in their very own way. Despite being fairly new, Shiba Inu seems to have an upper hand. This is mainly linked to its utility. The Shiba Inu ecosystem has been trying to build its utility. Shytoshi Kusama, the developer of the network, recently released a proposal for a Strategic Hub for Innovation in Blockchain (S.H.I.B.) in the US and asked interested parties and political candidates to support it. All these factors come into play as the meme coin prepares to rise.

The DOGE network has been in the market for a long time now. Several millionaires like Elon Musk have endorsed DOGE during this period. Elon Musk’s appearance at Donald Trump’s rally in New York is one of the primary reasons behind Dogecoin’s recent surge. In addition, Trump’s latest win and Musk’s involvement in his administration is another reason why DOGE could increase in the coming year.
