Meta Platforms (META) is set to announce its Q4 2024 earnings report on Wednesday, with investors hoping for a great performance. Shares in the tech giant were up 15% year-to-date through Tuesday, in part thanks to META’s efforts in AI investment and monetization. Investors will also be looking out for commentary around the sudden rise of DeepSeek AI. The Chinese startup’s newest AI models rolled out this week, tanking the US tech industry this week and wiping out more than $1 trillion of market value.
In the last five days, Meta stock is up 7%. Its shares are one of a slim picking of US tech stocks that fended off Monday’s DeepSeek-induced sell-off. META is trading at all-time highs ahead of the Q4 earnings release. Currently, the company is expected to post a profit of $6.90 per share, reflecting growth of 29.5% versus the same quarter last year. Estimates for the quarter have risen by 2.07% over the past 60 days. Revenues are also projected to rise 17.1% to $46.97 billion.
Multiple institutions, including Goldman Sachs and TD Cowen, have updated their projection to give the stock a buy rating. But how do these developments stack up to the consensus? Well, CNN Data shows that the stock has a consensus buy rating across 73 surveyed analysts. Specifically, 84% hold this rating, with just 3% holding a sell rating.

Moreover, the platform has a 10 outperform rating on the stock, as it expects it to exceed the market with rather ease.
